A Place in the Sun 1951
Raintree County 1956
Suddenly Last Summer 1959
He was set to film Reflections in a Golden Eye with Liz. She committed her large salary as insurance in order to secure Clift for the physically demanding role but he subsequently died of a massive heart attack in 1966 before filming began, and the role went to Marlon Brando.
“You’re the most beautiful man in Hollywood, Monty! Marry me! Marry me! Marry me! Fuck those tough guys. I want you. You belong in a Greek temple. I’d keep you there if I had you.”
– Liz Taylor, from The Rarest of Birds.

As an actor you just enlarge it enough so that your audience can identify with the situation. If it were a mirror, we would have no art.”

Posted in The Rarest of Birds, Theatre on September 30, 2009 by therarestofbirdsHello everyone,
I set up this blog to document the trials and tribulations of getting my one-man show, The Rarest of Birds co-written by John Lisbon Wood about the life and work of Montgomery Clift on the stage.
I hope you will join me on the journey.
I wish you all love, health, happiness, self-expression and prosperity.
Ciao for now.
